Amoxicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.

How Should I Take Amoxil?

Doses of Amoxil depend upon the severity of infection. General doses for adult is 250mg or 500 mg for every 8 hours. Low doses are prescribed for children more than 3 months. 

Amoxicillin Tablets can be taken with full glass of water and with or without food. Take Amoxil as prescribed by your Doctor. Never take Amoxil in larger amount or for longer period of time than recommended.

Oral suspension should always be shaken well and taken directly or mix it with water, milk, fruit juice, or ginger ale. Take it immediately after you mix it with anything.

The chewable tablet should be chewed or crushed before you gulp down it.

To get the best result, level of the drug constant in to the body. So use the drug at evenly space time as described by your Doctor. Continue Amoxil for the entire period prescribed by your doctor. Never stop medications even if you feel better during treatment.

If you are taking Amoxil with clarithromycin and/or lansoprazole to treat stomach ulcer, use all of your medications as directed. Read the medication guide or patient instructions provided with each medication. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without your doctor's advice.

Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Amoxil will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.

Do not share this medicine with another person, even if they have the same symptoms you have.

This medicine can cause unusual results with certain medical tests. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are using Amoxil.

Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

You may store liquid Amoxil in a refrigerator but do not allow it to freeze. Throw away any liquid that is not used within 14 days after it was mixed at the pharmacy.
